A Few New Kiosk Items for the 2014 Food and Wine Festival

Early in July, I had an opportunity to try a few of the items being featured at this year's Food and Wine Festival. It's an event that I usually enjoy, but this time... the event itself felt a little too large, and was missing some of the true foodie-like details of years past.
This however, is not a review about the event, but a chance to show a few pictures and talk about a couple of the items that will be appearing at the kiosk this year, around World Showcase.

A New Column for Epcot's International Food and Wine Festival

For thousands of eager Disney visitors, the beginning of autumn brings with it the beginning of the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. For me though, the annual festival begins in the middle of summer with a Preview Dinner event that has been offered to Tables in Wonderland members for three years running. It provides our first taste of new flavors and information on many of the events that will begin taking place two months from now.

Tables in Wonderland Discounts No Longer Offered at Dinner in Chefs de France

In a rather quite move, Epcot's Les Chefs de France is no longer offering Tables in Wonderland discounts during the dinner period. It would seem the TIW discounts can still be applied during lunch-menu dining times. Les Chefs de France is the second table service restaurant at Epcot to experiment with being removed from the popular Tables discount program. The Mexican pavilion's La Hacienda de San Angel (the outdoor restaurant, on the lagoon) also no longer honors the TIW discount for dinner. Beginning ... ( read more ... )
House-made English Meat Pies at the Rose & Crown

Although this new appetizer addition to the Rose & Crown's Lunch and Dinner is one of the pricier selections, it is not out of line with the other items on the menu. If you're on the fence about it, get one and split it with your dining partner. There's enough there for two people to share, without getting too full for whatever entree you have your eye on. It also happens to be the perfect size for pairing with a half-pint of ale.

Vegetarians Look Away, Giant Three Meat Burger Debuts at The Plaza Restaurant
Magic Kingdom
The Plaza Restaurant on the end of Main Street at the Magic Kingdom, has long had one of my favorite vegetarian sandwiches, aptly named the "Vegetarian Sandwich". It's unique in the world of vegetarian sandwiches because there's not an eggplant to be found anywhere. It's a delicious mix of cucumber, basil pesto, roasted pepper, tomato, hummus, and mozzarella on a freshly baked focaccia bread.
No worries, it's still there... and as yummy as ever. As if to introduce a universal yang to the yin though, ... ( read more ... )
