Steakhouse 71 is located on the ground floor of the Contemporary Resort (the floor that the lobby is on), and has the unique designation of being one of the few dining locations at a Disney Resort that does not have any functioning windows. There are three distinct dining periods offered at Steakhouse 71, with the dinner menu having the most "American steakhouse" vibe and the highest prices.
The rich, dark wood tones of the entry hallway feature black and white production photography, taken around the time the Magic Kingdom first opened in 1971. Once inside the restaurant you'll find a design style that daftly combines something resembeling a new-age dental waiting room with a few modestly colorful abstract artwork pieces — while all being crammed into a low-ceiling parking garage — complete with those oversized large support columns that you just wish weren't there.
The menu is set up like a traditional American steakhouse in the sense that the main "cuts" are presented predominantly on the plate with "accent" accouterments (i.e. if the menu says "with one side and you get the asparagus", expect there to only be three or four strands of asparagus next to your steak)… and several additional "sides" are available — for an additional fee. The menu isn't just full of steaks however — you will find a chicken, a fish, and a vegetarian entry as well.
