Sci-Fi Dine-In Restaurant to Test Breakfast Period for a Limited Time We just got word that the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant at Hollywood Studios will be testing out a Breakfast period from November 1st, 2015 until January 23, 2016. So far, only a few menu items have been released, but the offerings sound very similar to the Star Wars Dine-In Galactic Breakfast at Sci-Fi that is held during Star Wars Weekends… except (presumably) there won't be any cool Star Wars characters walking around and Star Wars movies won't be playing on the big screen.

The food format also sounds very similar to the Star Wars event, you'll get a fruit cup or yogurt parfait, a plate of pastries, a breakfast entrée and a non-alcoholic beverage for $23.99 per adult ($12.99 for ages 3 to 9).

This is probably going to be the least expensive way to see the interior of the unique Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant (which you really should do once, because it is kind of cool), and get a two and a half course meal in the process. You could go and just get a sandwich at lunch, but by the time you add in a beverage and dessert (or appetizer), you're going to be at that $23.99 price point, and possibly over.

For what it's worth, I wasn't particularly wowed by the food quality at the Star Wars Dine-In Galactic Breakfast… not for the cost anyway. At $23.99, this experience is half the price of the Star Wars Breakfast, so it's a slightly better "deal", and I do have to say, the breakfast offerings were unique... from items like a puff pastry filled with scrambled eggs, crab, and asparagus, to a small beef tenderloin (which wasn't particularly "tender") with potatoes and a bacon cheese "custard"… this is an attempt at a more sophisticated breakfast.

This "Kessel Run" steak entree that was offered during the Star Wars Breakfast at Sci-Fi sounds very similar to the "Grilled Beef Tenderloin" item that is on the "normal" Sci-Fi Breakfast Test menu.

For me though… a sophisticated breakfast, at a drive-in theater, just didn't feel right. The novelty of having Star Wars characters walking around is what made the whole thing worth doing. Take away that, I'm not sure I would recommend this, over having breakfast (for example) at Be Our Guest. The food quality is about the same, but the whole "themed experience" at Be Our Guest is more complete. Maybe if the breakfast offering here at the Sci-Fi Dine-In were more 50's themed, like the lunch and dinner menu is, then I'd be a bit more excited.

Your milage will vary of course (50's car pun), if you are a fan of the Sci-Fi Dine-In, you won't want to miss this one. There's no telling if they will extend the offering beyond January 23, 2016. I do think… the Star Wars Dine-In Galactic Breakfast will be back during Star Wars Weekends, either way though… so if you miss this trial period, there is still the Star Wars Breakfast.
