A Special Wine vs Beer Series – Oct. 10th, Oct. 24th, and Nov. 16th
Maria & Enzo’s is hosting a familiar sounding event on two nights and one afternoon this fall. It’s a Beer -vs- Wine dinner (and lunch) that harkens back to an event that was held as part of Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival many, many, many years ago (when there was actually content at Food & Wine, and not just food booths) called the "
Italian Food, Wine vs Beer Pairing at Via Napoli”. Since
Maria & Enzo’s and
Via Napoli are owned and operated by the same restaurant group (Patina)— I’d expect these two event may be similar.
This new version will take place on three nights…

Noon welcome, 12:30 p.m. Lunch
Cost : $75 per person
Each event date features a “welcome” cocktail and a four course meal — where each course will be served with a wine and a beer that have been specifically selected to pair with that course. The menu has been put together by chef Ben Dodaro (Patina). Representative from Batasiolo wines and Menabrea & Cipriani beer will be on hand — so I’m guessing beverages from those companies will be featured.
The idea here is that you can “cast your vote for which beverage you like best with each course” but I don’t think there’s any official voting. Honestly, after the first course — you’re going to be a little too tipsy to care much about voting.
These are (or have been in the past) really fun events. You’re basically getting sample sized pours of one cocktail, four wines, four beers, and four courses of food — for $85 (or $75 at the lunch event). At these price points, the chef has some freedom to provide a fun tasting experience, and because it’s a little something different for everyone working the event — the atmosphere and the service tend to be top-notch… to the point where the event is usually better than eating at the restaurant on a “normal” day.
Each of the event dates has different food and beverage pairings, so you can go to multiple dates and have slightly different experiences each time. Let’s take a look at the menu!
