A restaurant reviewer once told me, that he should be able to order anything off the menu, over multiple visits, and it would all have to be delicious in order to get a great review from him.  While I do agree in premiss, the unfortunate truth inside theme parks is... we may have to be satisfied with finding the one or two "best" ... I stopped by the beautifully detailed, but small Drinkwallah location the other day, purposely to try one of their Lychee Lemonade's with Coconut Rum. The drink was a nicely blended lemonade, with the lychee providing just a hint of sweetness, but sadly, without any of the Lychee's perfume-like quality that you would find in a fresh cut ... At some point, when talking about character meal buffets, one usually has to say something along the lines of "we're not really here for the food, we're here for the characters", but I'm happy to report that I've not had to say anything along those lines with regard to Hollywood and Vine. In fact, some of the standard line-item offerings ... ( read more ... )

I stopped by Les Halles to do a little compare and contrast between two desserts that can be found making their way out of the patisserie and into the dining area on many guest's trays. You can't go wrong with either the Cafe Liegeois (combining coffee, chocolate and cream mousse), or the Framboise which combines a raspberry mousse on ... ( read more ... )

The BBQ at Voyager's Smokehouse is actually quite good, offering a perfect mix of tender, slow-cooked meats and just the right amount of red bbq sauce. Our recommendation would either be the BBQ chicken platter, or if you would like the ribs, spend a couple of extra dollars for the baby back ribs platter (as opposed to the standard ... The "small plates dining" concept at the Brown Derby Lounge is a fairly new idea for the Disney parks, and we've seen a few other locations (such as the Spice Road at Epcot) give the format a try. I won't get into what "Tapas" style dining is, but at it's origins (in Spain), "going for tapas" would involve going to several different ... ( read more ... )

Flame Tree BBQ is a great place to stop in for some quick BBQ, as we did on a recent visit just after the holidays (but still during what Disney considers their "peak" holiday period). The good news... the onion rings are still the same spot-on, great, golden onion rings that I've come to expect from this location. I haven't run into an ... ( read more ... )
