I stopped by Gaston's Tavern recently to try the new "Tavern Beef Stew", which replaced a guest favorite, the "Roasted Pork Shank". Some would consider this a big shift in the menu, but only because there are only a few things on the menu to begin with. The only other noteworthy menu items would be the giant "Warm Cinnamon Roll" (which ... ( read more ... )

On a recent stroll though Animal Kingdom I stopped by a brightly painted, blue and purple, red tin roofed kiosk named the Beastly Kiosk. Researching these things is part of what I do, so I knew it was there, but you will have to look carefully at the menu board (or your receipt) to discover that you may be standing right in front of it. ... Minnie's Holiday Dine at Hollywood and Vine is a new dinner event concept for the popular Hollywood Studios buffet. For most of 2016, the food items along with the characters' themed costumes will vary with each seasonal period. The "Holidays" is the first of these seasons, and the concept here is that Minnie is hosting a holiday dinner ... ( read more ... )

You probably won't spend much time looking at the menu board at Epcot's Yorkshire Country Fish Shop. The UK Pavilion's popular counter service kiosk serves up Fish & Chips and something they call a Victoria Sponge Cake. The latter, is more akin to something you would find in a Little Debbie snack cake box than a proper Victoria Cake, ... ( read more ... )

The Garden Grill Restaurant in Epcot's "The Land" Pavilion has started serving up breakfast again, after a very long multi-year hiatus. The breakfast period is a character meal and served family style (all you care to eat, but delivered to your table on a large "sharing" platter). The lunch and dinner periods are the same format. The ... ( read more ... )

The Mara is the only counter service location for both the Jambo House and Kidani Village at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. That always seemed a little odd to me, because those poor guests staying on the north west end at Kidani have a loooong way to casually walk over and grab something to eat. Sure, they have Sanaa right there, but it ... ( read more ... )

I must have walked by the old "Funnel Cakery" window (located just to the left of Voyager's Smokehouse at SeaWorld) a couple of times without even realizing that the sign had changed back to "Hot Dogs and Snacks" from "Funnel Cakery". The signs are, very similar looking. What did make me stop and take notice, was seeing a somewhat ... ( read more ... )

The Brat and Sauerkraut that I had on my last visit here, was just okay. The large bun was on the dry side, and seemed so large, that it overpowered most of the dish. (Yes, the bread overpowered the Sauerkraut.)While this is "just" a counter-service location, seating here has always been an issue as well (i.e., there's just not enough of ... ( read more ... )

Trilo-Bites has always seemed a little out of place to me. After crossing the bridge that connects Discovery Island and DinoLand USA, I'm not really thinking "I wonder if there's anything to eat around here". Instead, for just a brief second, I feel completely lost and directionless. I think it's because Trilo-Bites is one of those rare ... ( read more ... )

I recently stopped by the San Angel Inn, which is located in Epcot's Mexico pavilion, a beautiful restaurant that arguably has one of the more immersive dining environments in the park. There's just something very cool about the indoor/outdoor plaza style seating area that fully removes you from the hubbub of a theme park just outside ... ( read more ... )
