I had a chance to experience the new (and probably temporary) Tailgate Tasting at Epcot's Food and Wine Festival on Monday, September 17th, 2018… and you know what? It was pretty cool actually! The limited-time, complimentary engagement which takes place on select Monday's only — pairs a very small amount of football, with three food and three beverage samples that are somehow related to the football teams that are playing in that night's big game. The event only ran about 35 minutes, but that felt about right. ... ( read more ... )

The Port Orleans Resort - Riverside's Riverside Mill Food Court Lunch and Dinner

There are two and a half places to eat at Disney's Port Orleans Resort — Boatwright's is a table service restaurant that is only open for dinner, our "half" place to eat is a great piano lounge that goes by the name of "River Roost Lounge" (it's only a "half" because they have a small bites menu from 5pm to 11pm), which leaves us with the Riverside Mill Food Court. It's a big food court — and it's open from 6:30am to 11:00pm (give or take depending on the season), and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The ... ( read more ... )

Disney's Countdown to Midnight is a New Year's Eve Celebration that (as the name might suggest) only happens once each year! The 2018-2019 event will mark the third time (in recent history anyway) that the big resort bash will be held in the Contemporary Resort's Fantasia Ballroom. Prior to this, there was a similar event around the Boardwalk area — and a smaller (but more elite) event at the California Grill. There are a two large New Year's Eve events happening at the Contemporary for 2018-2019… "Disney's Pixar ... ( read more ... )

I have visited Frontera Cocina a couple times since it's opening in Disney Springs, but those were for special events. This was my first visit just for dinner. Frontera (so far anyway) has done a really nice job of introducing new seasonal specials and menu items to keep things interesting. My visit this time fell on the very first day that some new items from their "Taste of Baja" menu were rolling out. While some of those items will be replaced shortly with new seasonal items, the new items should be just as amazing as the ... ( read more ... )

If you park in the "Lime" garage at Disney Springs, it's hard to enter the shopping area without smelling something (usually meat) being wood-fire grilled at the Polite Pig. Not great -- if you're following a plant-based diet… but for carnivores, it draws you in, like a moth to a light bulb. I decided to stop in the other day to grab a quick sandwich and side, curious to discover if the flavors lived up to smells. I'm happy to report, they do. That's not surprising though… the ownership behind The Polite Pig operate ... ( read more ... )

Not too long ago, I got a chance to sit down for dinner with some great friends at Artist Point, "the" signature dining location at Wilderness Lodge. I was going to lead the review off with "this is one of those locations that you can almost always get a reservation for when the other signature locations are booked solid" -- however, I just checked and found that most of the signature dining locations had availability at multiple times -- tomorrow, next week, and a month from now. Hummmm. California Grill, Le Cellier, and ... ( read more ... )

Now that the dust is starting to settle over the shiny new Disney Springs, I've started adding the many dining locations to the directory here at Mealtrip.com. (No, no we're not a source for "breaking" news and rumors -- we're more about what you're actually going to find when visit these locations.) Disney Springs even has it's own main menu link in the Mealtrip menu bar now!Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' is a location that I'm asked a lot about. While I have experienced some of Chef Smith's culinary creations at various events ... ( read more ... )

Whispering Canyon Cafe can be a very loud, boisterous experience… which is exactly what it's supposed to be! But if you want to try out this middle of the road bbq-ish restaurant, (which for many, has become like an old-friend that you must visit on any trip)… minus all the excitement… a late lunch might be the perfect time. At the tail-end of their lunch reservation window (between 2:00pm and 2:30pm) the place is like a ghost-town and you just might be able to convince your server to go a little low-key too! ... The character interactions at Tusker House are so much fun! It's one of the few locations you can meet and interact with the fab four dressed in their safari gear. (Goofy, Donald, Daisy and Mickey … possibly Minnie … but never all five on the same day … usually … there's no rules here people, it's a theme park). There is a decent amount of room in most of the dining areas for the characters to move around in and even though Tusker House is quite large, you seem to get ample time interacting with each of ... I wanted to give Animal Kingdom's newest dining location, Satu'li Canteen another try and see how a different variation of the "build your own bowl" theme compared to the last one I tried. (If you didn't happen to read the first review, one of the main entrees to order at Satu'li is a "build your own bowl" where you get to pick one of four proteins, one of four bases, and one of three sauces… that all goes into a bowl with a smattering of julienned raw vegetables and Boba pearls.)On my first visit I ordered the ...
